About

Senior backend and ops engineer in Brazil, working remotely.

What I work on

I'm a senior backend and ops engineer with 15+ years of building and running PHP systems in production, mostly Laravel on Linux servers and in recent years on AWS.

I'm based in Brazil and work remotely for AdMetricsPro, a US adtech company, where I write the backend code and run the servers under it. I led its migration from a VPS to AWS, and I coordinate its releases across several repositories.

Finding the cause

What I do best is find out why something broke. I debug down to the cause and confirm it is gone before I clean up the symptom. One rule I use on a backlog of failed jobs: when a single class of error dominates, there is one cause, and when the errors are spread out, there are several.

I build the prevention together with the fix, because recovery that runs without an alert hides the problem it recovers from. My homelab backup sends a failure notification, and an external check emails me on the day it stops running at all.

Agentic engineering

On production work I practice agentic engineering: coding agents do the implementation, and I direct them and answer for the result. I write the skills they follow, set what they are allowed to run, split work across several of them and review what comes back. Every report from an agent is a claim I check, and every commit and push waits for my approval.

Agents install software on my behalf, so I control what gets in. Versions are pinned, a release has to be two days old before I install it, and six command-line tools run in throwaway containers that never see my home directory.
